About Me

I have been intrigued by Nature and the natural world since I was a child and it has played a major role in my approach to art. Images drawn from the physical sciences and geometric forms are juxtaposed with organic shapes to portray images that are vibrant and meaningful.

Frequently I paint the spirit of places and landscapes I have experienced, which are sometimes informed by my politics or social views of the area. I strive for a sense of space in these paintings, creating the illusion of depth and foreground. Even more inspiring is the energy and tension created by the changing roles of light, sound and motion in any one scene.

My approach portrays my visceral responses to a scene, the sensuous forms, unique light and shadow effects, objects or figures using textures, gestural marks and particular color combinations. In that regard my art becomes a dance of all these factors.
